Het stoere Fort 1881 heeft een fascinerende geschiedenis en daarom is het zo leuk om een rondleiding te volgen door het fort. De bouw van dit voormalige pantserfort is gestart in 1881 en voor het eerst bemand in 1889. Als onderdeel van de Atlantikwall heeft dit fort dienst gedaan ter verdediging van de haven van Rotterdam en de Nieuwe Waterweg in de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
Museum met prachtig archiefmateriaal
Naast evenementenlocatie voor feesten, bruiloften en bedrijfsuitjes is er in het fort ook een museum gevestigd met prachtig archiefmateriaal. De gidsen van het fort leiden u graag rond door het fort, waar u mooie anekdotes te horen krijgt en meer leert over dit bijzondere fort. Een rondleiding kan altijd ingepland worden als vergaderbreak of als start van uw familiedag op het fort.
Voor feesten, evenementen en vergaderingen is het fort op afspraak geopend.

In het voormalige pantserfort vindt u nog een aantal authentieke details. Wat dacht u van de voormalige bakkerij? Hier is de enorme oven (3 meter breed!) gerestaureerd en is nu wederom in gebruik voor heerlijke fort-broodjes! In de bakkerij “hangt” ook nog het hokje van de hoofdbakker van waaruit hij alles goed in de gaten kon houden.
Bezoek de voormalige geschutskoepels
Vanaf de weg zie je de geschutskoepels liggen, die je ook van binnenuit kunt bezoeken. Hier zie je ook nog veel details van hoe het fort gebouwd is. Een rondleiding door het fort is absoluut de moeite waard en leuk om af te sluiten met een kort bezoek aan het museum.
